Add Text to PDF

Not every PDF form is a proper fillable form. Very often you receive a document — an application, a contract, a school permission slip — that has blank lines or boxes but no interactive fields to type into. The usual workaround is to print it, fill it in by hand, and scan it back. Adding text directly to the PDF skips all of that: you type your answers straight onto the page and send it back digitally.

ColaPDF lets you click anywhere on a PDF page and type. You can move each text box, change its font, size and colour, and add text across multiple pages. The text is written as real, selectable PDF text, so it stays crisp at any zoom level. And because everything happens in your browser, sensitive documents like contracts and personal forms never leave your device.

How it works

  1. Upload your PDF using the drop zone or click to browse
  2. Click anywhere on the page to drop a text box, then type your text
  3. Drag the box to position it; adjust font, size and colour as needed
  4. Click "Save PDF" to download your edited file — nothing is uploaded

Tips

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. The PDF is opened and edited entirely in your browser. Your file never leaves your device.

Can I fill in a form that has no fillable fields?

Yes — that is exactly what this tool is for. Click on each blank line, type your answer, and position it where you want.

Can I add text on more than one page?

Yes. Use the page navigation to move between pages; text boxes are saved per page.

Can I change the font and colour?

Yes. Select a text box to change its font (Helvetica, Times or Courier), size and colour.

Is the added text selectable in the final PDF?

Yes. The text is added as real, selectable PDF text — not as an image — so it stays sharp and searchable.
